{ two souls, one heart }

Back after a brief respite...thank you for all your FB messages and emails while I was away, and your support for pling's entry in the Singapore Blog Awards. I feel much love! And love is what inspired this post and these creations.

Whether you are happily married, attached, or single, I'm sure we all desire to share our lives and our dreams with someone we love and respect. Borrowing the popular French saying 'deux ames un cœur', which translates to 'two souls, one heart', I dedicate this wedding collection to these happy thoughts which filled my mind and heart, when I was conceptualizing, designing and creating these pieces.

For the recollection of this day, even years after...
For the start of a beautiful journey together...
For something new, something old, and something borrowed...
For those lovely bridesmaids, dear friends and mothers, who are by your side this momentous day...

And of course, you can wear these on non-wedding days to add an element of sweet romance, or a dash of Victorian charm to your getup. These bracelets are particularly wonderful as gifts for bridemaids, which they could wear in replacement of floral corsages on wedding day, and treasure as keepsakes thereafter.

{ all that gold and glitter… }

...are not diamonds. And, just perfect for this season's uptown elegance or rebel cool.

Get some glitter going with your delicate feminine blouse in sheer cream, or a mini-floral print dress. Think easy elegance. A touch of luxe, and not too much.

Or if urban cool is your thing, layer simple separates in jersey, denim and leather, and throw in a touch of nostalgia with a vintage-style long necklace. I especially love that vintage gold-plated whistle! This dainty thing really works! It is harmonizing wondrously with my long black tee and blush-hued biker jacket for a downtown-perfect ensemble.

{ alice in wonderland ~ part I }

Inspired by the fantastical world created by Lewis Carroll in his lovely tale, 'Alice In Wonderland', this series of necklaces, earrings and bracelets will transport you to that whimsical dreamscape, where all the characters are so out-of-the-world amusing. I can't wait to watch Tim Burton's rendition of this tale, and of course, Johnny Depp's portrayal as the Mad Hatter. I'm so looking forward to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party scene. The trailer is enough to get me super excited! It's so dark, mysterious, imaginative, quirky and colorful!

Alice In Wonderland bracelets will be uploaded in the next week's post. For a preview, join pling's fanpage!

Collaborating with an American artist that I've come to adore, I present to you pling's latest collection, a tribute to the bizarre tale of a girl, her dream world, and the curious characters she met in that unusual dreamscape.

{ dedicated to love }

What's your love story? I bet we all have different ones. And sometimes, many and not just one (I'm not promoting infidelity. So please read on...). Love keeps you warm, keeps you alive, and keeps you hopeful. Thus, you need to love yourself too.

Sometime ago, a friend asked me, "What is love?". A big question, and a difficult one to answer by little me. I think, generally, love is when you share an important part of yourself with someone. It may only be a part, and not the whole, as we ourselves may not know what our whole is like. With this, I think love takes many forms - Father and child, parent and child, husband and wife, siblings, friends, lovers, work partners, and one-sided admiration. The word is 'share', meaning 'give and receive', and not 'taking' all the time. Give selflessly without contemplating and calculating what you will receive in return. Receive without guilt, without taking it for granted, and with heartfelt gratitude and humility.

This Valentine's Day, celebrate love. Not just BF-GF love, husband-wife love, but the people whom you love, and who love you.

Dedicated to the many kinds of love...

===================
Loved you yesterday,
Love you still,
Always have, always will.

And thank you for loving me and pling ♥

{ blue }

Hope everyone have had a wondrous Christmas, fun-filled New Year and a beautiful start to 2010! A big shout-out to you lovelies out there that I have new Facebook fan page and apologies for asking all of you who were in my FB group previously to rejoin this fan page. I'll be uploading to the fan page now since I could also hold exclusive promotions, previews, giveaways and contests there! So, join me! Looking forward to seeing all of you there.

Onward to the post...

Many were feeling blue now that the long holidays have officially ended on Monday, which inspired these creations and this post. I'm sure that blue is not always associated with gloominess and dismay, and not all the time. Before we sink into such dismal sentiments for this particular hue, I would like to invite all of you to think of skies so blue that you just admire how sublime this color is. Think of the myriad of blues in the sea as it changes in depth and mineral deposits. Think of how these two (the sky and the sea) combine to form a picturesque vista that is so healing to the mind, body and soul. Think of the mysterious blue of the night that hints of the great unknown. Think of comfortable blue jeans so soft that you can't feel anymore snug. Think of blue...positively and fondly.

I love these blues...and I hope you do too! Wishing you all a refreshed start and another blessed year ahead.

May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.

{ mooning over… }

Recently in November, NASA announced that they discovered a lot of water on the moon. I'm over the moon about this piece of news, not only because we might finally be able to post astronauts there to study the planets and the galaxy that Earth is only a part of, but because it also feeds my cosmic imagination that there might actually be life on that natural satellite that we have been gazing upon for so many human years.

Inspired by the moon, and its mutating shapes, I present these 2 creations made from matt gold moon discs, smooth like pebbles that had been polished by the sea waves, and with graphical holes like those in cheese. (I recalled a childhood story that involves a moon made out of cheese. Or it is only me who had read a story like that?)

Look out for my "stars" series next year...:)

{ winter wonderland }

A dash of gold in a blanket of silvery sheen reminds me of twinkling Christmas lights in a snowy city. Sadly, our summery island has no snowflakes teasing our faces as we saunter down the streets, buying gifts for our loved ones and meeting long-time friends for that warm cuppa tea and coffee. But movies kept that image alive within me and one day, I hope to spend Christmas in a place where there is snow. And for all you lovelies out there in the falling snow, keep warm and take care. I sure hope it's not so wintry that it hurts.

These creations mix gold and silver color, and the results can be pretty amazing. Some allow you to jumble girlish charm with boyish chic, spruce up that midnight party glamor with simple allure, or even return to the simplicity of everyday life, noticing things that you have not. What's life without taking a moment to appreciate life's little wonders and small gestures of kindness, right?

{ fly away }

That day, I was looking at the birds at Bishan Park during the bazaar, while ogling at the dogs that were passing by, totally distracted by the birds, children and people all round, and probably shouting in their minds 'BIRD!'. (Those who have watched the animation 'Up!' would know what I mean.)

In fact, I'm not much of a bird person. The ones that plaque the trees along Orchard Road really frighten me with their excited chirps in the evening. Probably I feel that their droppings might befall on my head anytime. But, I do think our little feathered friends have interesting shapes and such adorable body lines that really inspired this range of handmade necklaces and earrings. Some of those canaries, doves, and egrets that I've seen in bird parks, aviaries, nature reserves and as pets, are so endearing with their round eyes and bright songs.

Sometimes, I thought how wonderful it would be to take flight. Flying away to someplace beautiful, whenever your heart calls for it, or just hovering in the skies, taking in the view below among fluffy clouds, would be simply wonderful. If only I have wings...

{ gold rush }

Summer days are here! In full force than ever before. The weather didn't used to be so bad. This heat is a poignant reminder that the Earth is really burning up.

Summer days = shimmery days. Why? I recall my childhood days when June meant school holidays and everything seemed to be cast in sun-glow - the swimming pools, the days out at the zoo, the sun coming out from the canopy of leaves above, and playing with sand at playgrounds. And as a child, I envied my aunts wearing those beautiful gold earrings that give such sparkle to these days. Now, you can give summer staples an instant hit of glam with these earrings. Wear it with everything from an elegant LBD to downtown denim. Just hook and go!

{ simplicity }

Had a good bazaar at The Cathay the past weekend! Thank you to YOU and all of you who came down to help, support or rave about our setup and pieces. Hopefully, we get to do more of these in the year.

For those who didn't make it, no worries! Join pling's facebook group (see right) and get updated whenever we have fixed a date for going on the road again. Touch and feel our pieces then! (Though some of our one-of-a-kind pieces might be grabbed up before we hit the roads. For those, check here regularly or sign up for our enewsletter updates.

Pardon my very short upload this week. Too tired. Hahaha...and I'm really itching to start sewing with my new sewing machine and the super-adorable and exclusive Japanese fabrics that I've gotten.

For now, enjoy these handcrafted earrings made with Czech glass beads, amethyst, turquoise, agate, freshwater seed pearls and tourmaline. This is the delicate side of pling (though one may not see it often!). That's why, only these 2 pairs.
